Brogborough is one of the few large lakes in the country (220 acres) that is totally dedicated to windsurfing.

No other craft are allowed on the lake with the exception of the rescue boat, and a few kayaks and SUPs on windless days.

The club has a thriving membership and always has vacancies for anyone who wants to join.

Dahab 2008

Dahab November 9th - 16thCool

What a week

We were boken in slowly on the first day with just a force 3/4 with 7.5/8.5 sails

But from day two things hotted up to a Foce 5

DAY three Force 5

Day Four Force 5

Day five Force 5

Day six Force 5

Day seven forse 6

The accomadation was as usual excellant, but the food had improved ten fold from last year!

Elke and the boys from the Harry Nass centre were as ever amazing , nothing is ever too much trouble, you could always swap your nominated board if you wished, while the lads rigged sails on demand. A brilliant team.

I think all 27 of us had a great time and are ready to return again next year.

I know I said I wasn't going to do it next year! But it is the tenth anniversary of the Dahab trip!

So once again I have booked 20 rooms

Dates for next year are 9th - 16th November at a cost of £740 ( Flights , all inclusive at the Iberatol Hotel, and all your hitre kit)

Let me know as soon as possible if you want to come

Elke from the windsurfing centre has promised free rash vests and t. shirts to everyone who comes to  mark the occasion, so how could I refuse? Especially after such a fantastic holiday.

If you want to come next year let me know as soon as possible. We are offering easy payments  Of £75 per month for ten months starting from January.

the Dates for 2009 trip are 9th November at a cost of £750 which includes flights, all inclusive at the Iberatol hotel and all your kit hire. I will need a deposit of £130 to book a place. I have a feeling that this price may well rise somewhat as the year progresses, so it is advisable to book as quickly as possible

 The future of Brogborough Lake

As you may or may not have heard there are several plans afoot that concern Brogborough Lake. The committee and myself have had a couple of meetings with the proposed canal authorities who intend to join the grand union canal in Milton Keynes with the river Ouse in Bedford and also with H & O properties who own the lake and intend to build an Eco friendly development around the lake. The result of these meetings are as follows1 The CanalOne of the proposals is to bring the canal into the lake on the left hand side as you look at it. Coming in just below the farmhouse on the left and hugging the shore and leaving via the bottom corner. The area will be boomed off and frankly shouldn’t really affect us, as that corner usually has a big wind shadow anyway. The time scale looks considerably far off, I can’t see anything happening before 2015 at the earliest and with all such projects they often get shelved into immortality anyway.“The Eco TownThis if and when it happens (and that is a very big if) will affect us eventually. The proposed town will be all along our launching foreshore and down the right and left hand side, the good news is they will not be building high rise flats at the end of the lake and blocking off the South westerly wind, so our predominant wind will still be there.Once again the time scale is way off, certainly nothing before 2015 and in all probability way after that, so at least for the present we have nothing to worry about. They have assured us that they want the windsurfing to carry on, so looking on the bright side we might even get a new clubhouse with electricitySo to summarise as far as we can tell the club will be undisturbed for the next seven years at least. Beyond that we will still be there but may be in a different format. Though frankly with the economic climate in chaos, I can’t see anything happening at all for a bit, if at all.

Lastest up date

O and H properties, the owners of the lake have pulled out of the Eco Town project. This is good news for us, and our future looks good
