Brogborough is one of the few large lakes in the country (220 acres) that is totally dedicated to windsurfing.

No other craft are allowed on the lake with the exception of the rescue boat, and a few kayaks and SUPs on windless days.

The club has a thriving membership and always has vacancies for anyone who wants to join.

Membership: If you have your own kit, join Brogborough Lake and you can sail when and as much as you want. You can even store your kit onsite for a small monthly fee. on the 15th /16th May and 21st/22nd and 23rd May

Brogborough 2009 RYA Instructor Courses Completed

Eight people successfully completed the five Start Windsurfing Instructor training days spread over two weekends - one short, one long. Thank you to Gerry Ball for teaching us all how to sail beginner's boards again!

The first three student instructors to undertake the Level 2 Powerboat course completed successfully on Saturday 17th. The remainder will follow in the first group's watery wake on 24th October. Alison Butler proved her worth as an instructor by being the only one who noticed the engine was low on oil. The RYA will be even more impressed to hear that Ali immediately included it in the theory questionnaire part of the course by asking "What does that red light mean? It wasn't on when we started!" The boat recovery, oil top-up, and relaunch added to the general fun and laughter that encompassed a Man-Over-Board who either floated on the surface or was too heavy to lift out of the water. Learning at school was never this much fun, or effective.

First Aid was completed at the end of October, led by Jan Coulsden of St John's Ambulance. After testing us for vital signs, she noted that we were all below average for pulse rate - draw your own conclusions! At least one member of the team had not been on a first aid course for over forty years, and he was very surprised by the huge changes in treatments. If you are in a similar situation then you should seriously think about a refresher.

As instructors are now positively littering the shore of Brogborough, one can only surmise that next season is definitely the year to learn to windsurf!
